I started a journal for the first time this year never dreaming I would have such things to write as I have the last few weeks. Will be interesting to look back even in a year and read what was going on.

I usually post every morning on my other quilting journal. I figure I will do the same here. Go ahead and start your own journal, too.

Good morning, all. I see that we're getting a few people signing up and posting, too. That's good. I hope this catches on so we can have contact during this virus thing keeping us all isolated.
I've decided to set a daily quilting goal and today is the first day to decide what quilting thing to do. I have 7 vintage quilts to get quilted so getting the first one loaded on the LA is my goal today. That doesn't sound like much, does it? I washed and bleached the feed sacks that I'm going to use for the backing but I need to iron them and sew them together before I begin the loading. I'll let you know in the morning how that's going.
What quilting thing or FW thing have you planned for the day? While many of us are staying home, we might be able to get a few things done that normally might not get done. Quilting helps me stay calm about this virus thing. Okay, I'll go get busy. You all have a great day.

Good morning, all. It's chilly today but when you don't go out anyway, it doesn't really matter.
I've been making a daily quilting goal every day and some days I'm able to accomplish what I plan. Today I'm going to work a bit on the vintage quilt that I'm quilting. It might take me quite a while to get it done as I'm custom quilting it. I posted a thread in the projects section if you'd like to see the top.
We are continuing to stay isolated. We think that's the safest way to be considering the circumstances. I hope all of you are doing okay, being able to stay in and maybe getting some things done that you didn't think you'd have the time to do.
So, have a good day while you STAY SAFE!

Good Monday to all of you. Did you see that snow that came down last night? I think we have about 2 inches blanketing everything. They say it will be gone later today. That's a good thing.
As I check out our forum each day, I see that there's not a lot of action here yet. Is that because you haven't figured out how to post in the threads yet? Or maybe you're just very busy taking care of life in these troubled times. I do hope you all will start to stop by each day and contribute some, too. This forum is for all of us to be able to virtually get together while we can't physically get together. Let me know if it helps or if it's not something you'd all like to have available to us.
We are continuing our self-isolation, only going out for essentials. The news is pretty depressing but we're keeping a positive attitude. We are especially concerned for our medical people. God bless them. They are so important. Let me know how you're doing. I miss you all so much.

Good morning, FW friends. We are still 'staying in place' but while I feel like I'm getting things done that I've needed to do, I'm still not caught up. I hope you all don't feel as behind as I feel.
At least the weather has been warmer. I know I've seen a lot of people walking down our country road the last few days. I'm sure they are feeling cooped up, too. I've been quilting on one of the vintage quilts I was given to finish up and that takes a big part of each day. I do want to get a few of those done. I'm also working on FW machines that I was given to repair. Some of those take a short time, others, not so much. But they will be done pretty soon.
How about all of you? Are you getting things accomplished? I hope the staying in isn't driving you crazy. I know it does mess with some people. I'm pretty happy not having to go, go, go. You can write a quick reply on any of the posts in the forum. Join in. Let's get a conversation going. Okay, I'm going to go get busy. Have a great day.

It's a nice sunny day today. We keep hoping the temps will climb and we'll be able to head North. Getting to our hide away seems like a safe thing to do. I can't teach any classes right now and don't really want to because of social distancing. I hope everyone out there takes all the precautions they can so this pandemic can come to an end.
Forgive me for not posting much. I do like to get some feedback so maybe as people learn to figure this forum thing out we'll get more people joining in so the conversations can happen. We can share ideas and patterns and just stay in communication. That's what this is for.
So, I'll go get started on the day. I always seem to have things to do. How about you? I hope you're all having a good day.

It's raining today so I guess I can't load anything into the trailer for our trip back North. That's okay. I always have other things to do.
All my sewing is packed and loaded so there won't be any sewing today. But, I think I'll make an appointment with the quilt shop to go buy the fabric for the grandkid's wedding quilt. I think this will be the last wedding quilt to make for awhile. All the grands will be married and let's hope the great grands aren't going to do that any time soon. One graduated from HS this year so who knows? It probably won't be that many years in the future.
So, have a glorious day and I'll check in soon.

I'm always glad to wake up to sunshine and this morning it is bright, almost glaring. Temps are warming up and it feels like maybe Spring has decided to arrive. I think it's about time to get back in the woods and isolate there.
My quilting is all packed so I'm not sewing a thing right now. I'm hoping that the sewing can be pulled out very soon so I can get back at it. I was able to go to the quilt shop yesterday and purchase fabrics for the grandson's wedding quilt. I will get it put together over the summer and have it ready to quilt this fall. The Little Brown Bird quilt is packed, too. I am so anxious to get that one finished up. How about you? Do you have a special project that you're working on?
So, I'll go finish the packing. You all have a great day. Enjoy the warmth and shine from the sun.

Good Sunday morning, all. We're back in the woods, looking out over the lake that is now clear of ice, and it's a pretty day. It's chilly but pretty. It will be a good day to unload some things and start to get to some kind of normal here.
I know that it will be a few days before I can start any sewing but when I do get it all out, I'll have to show you the fabric I got for the DGS's wedding quilt. I'm anxious to get it started but I might just stitch up a small scrappy quilt first. Packing, loading, unloading and unpacking has been leaving me totally exhausted every day. I'm not as young as I used to be. But, things will happen at the perfect time and as the temps warm up it will start to feel like home again.
Okay, I gotta go start the coffee for the guys. You all have a spectacular day.

How's everybody today? Maybe at some point people will post a few things and a real conversation can happen.
It's been a little chilly here the past couple of days. The fire in the wood stove has sure been nice. We should get to the mid 50s today and sunny so that's good. I woke up to snow yesterday. It was so pretty. I love snow when I can look out on it and not have to get in it. And, it was only a dusting of the white stuff. Pine trees coated with that spattering of white frosting is a pretty sight.
The unloading continues each day but I have to do it slowly. Bringing in heavy boxes of stuff can make my back go into fits if I'm not careful. I have to clean a room at a time, too. Things are pretty dusty this time. I guess I wasn't very good at cleaning everything before we left. That's the only thing I can think of. But, that's slowing down the unpacking, too. I have to clean first before I pile things in. It took me over a week to get it all packed and loaded. I shouldn't be so impatient.
Well, I hope all of you are doing well. I'm going to oil and grease my little FW here this morning. I know she will enjoy her spa day. And, then, I'm going to sew just a bit. Yup, I need a sewing fix so I don't go crazy. Sewing is my drug of choice.
Enjoy your day and stop by to chat sometime. Stay safe and stay strong.

Good morning, all. It's a beautiful Wednesday morning here. The sun is shining and the trees across the lake are reflected off the still water. I should take a picture. It's always so pretty in the early morning.
My FW up here in the woods was so happy to get her spa day. She sewed so quietly when I tested her stitches. She still had one of the old motor belts and when I looked I could see 3 areas where it was starting to crack. It's probably the original belt and this machine is about early 1950s. So she got a new super belt and her RPMs shot up to 2800. That's awesome. I did sew a couple of little mini 9-patch blocks. I'm going to sew a few more this morning before I get the day going.
I hope all of you are doing well and getting a lot of sewing done. Are the masks still being made in huge numbers? I need to order some elastic before I can make any more. Have an awesome day and post a message or two.

Hello out there! I hope everyone is busy and well. I managed to rake a bunch of leaves yesterday. When you live in the middle of a forest, you get a lot of leaves to rake. So my muscles are sore. By golly, I have muscles I never knew I had! And, the job isn't done yet. I got the asparagus bed uncovered and the flower beds cleared of leaves but I need to get to the front yard today.
How are you spending your days in isolation? I hope you are finding lots of sewing to do. Let me know if you have any questions about your FWs. I miss you all and your FWs, too.

Brrr! It's a chilly, snow covered morning here in the North woods today. The front that's dropped down from Canada brought a taste of winter for the Mother's day weekend. I suppose if you're in Michigan anywhere, you're feeling it, too. Actually, I don't mind this dusting of snow. It's really pretty.
Getting things set up here continues each day. Cleaning away a winter's worth of dust and such is my daily task and hopefully it will be done, soon. Tomorrow will mark a week that we've been here. I do a little every day.
How about you all? With these days and weeks of self isolation I suppose you all are getting a lot of sewing done. I'd love to hear about it. Have a great day. I'll check in tomorrow.
