As I told people at the March FW club class, I have 7 vintage quilt tops that need to be quilted. They were made by hand by my DH's (dear husband's) cousin's DGGM ( dear great grand mother). They were given to me to finish so I got one of them on the LA (long arm) yesterday and plan to work on it a little every day until it's done. So, this is the first one that I'm doing. I was told this block is the Butterfly star or a Pontiac star. And, here's a close up As you can see, there are some stains. That picture shows the worst one. I have some Retro Clean, a product made to take out stains from old fabrics. I hope it works. I'm custom quilting this one but I'll try to take a picture later today to show you what I'm doing. I used old feed sacks for the backing and had to repair a few holes. Feed sack is probably what the piecer would have used to finish it up. Every stitch was done my hand. I hope I can do it justice.

I'm very close to being half done with the quilting on this one. There are 300 of the little hexis so that means that there are 300 of the little flowers to stitch. I'm also using a ruler to SITD (stitch in the ditch) around the stars. I have 135 flowers done. I'm going to go downstairs and get to work. My goal is to quilt 2-3 rows of flowers each day.

Love old vintage quilts. My boyfriend has found some great ones and I need to get them longarmed. Jean, do you longarm other people's quilts? I also thought about finding a group who hand quilts. Sure miss our FW classes! You take care and have fun up north. Hope the hubby is doing well too.

Thanks, Dawn. I have only gotten one of the vintage quilts quilted so far but they sat under the aunt's bed for 50 years. What's another year or two, right? I really haven't long armed other people's quilts because frankly, I'm not that good. There is a group of hand quilters down at the quilt shop in Sauder village if you go that route.
I miss our classes, too. But, safety is the most important thing. I sure don't want anyone to catch this virus because they came to a FW class.
We look forward to being up north. If the ice would just go away on the lake. We are thinking we can leave pretty soon though. And, hubby is doing good, thanks for asking. His last infusion is today.
So glad you posted here. Keep it up. Maybe we can encourage others to do the same.
